Bridal Bazaar October 4th

Here are some pictures of our design table scape that we hosted for bridal bazaar's design gallery. We were there because we are members of Association of Bridal Consultants. Our table was called "Fall in Love" My inspiration for this table was to create a very rich and glamourous atmosphere of the 1920's. Talk about glitz and glam! My fabulous friend Thomas from Lotus Flower Shop was the mastermind behind the florals! And guess what the million dollar question was that day? "What happens to the fish?" The fish caught the eyes of all the brides that attended and they were inspired to have them for their wedding reception, but the thought of having them discarded distastefully or having them flushed down the toilet was horrific. Don't worry ladies! If the centerpiece are not rentals, then the fish go home with the guest that takes the centerpiece (hopefully they will take good care of them), otherwise if they are rentals, the florist will usually take them back and keep them. Word of advice from Thomas, make sure the florist is experienced in working with fish! you do not want dead fish in your centerpieces!)

Happy Planning Always!

Happy 2 years Anniversary!

Even though our wedding anniversary is on September 12, life has been hectic at the Austin's with a newborn baby, wedding season, and our poor chihuahua getting sick! Well it's never too late to send a shout out! I met my husband for the first time back in 2003 when I was fresh out of college. We were both working for the same bank. It wasn't until 3 years later that we really connected at the company's Christmas Party. We discovered we had so much in common, and his fun sense of humor stole my heart. He made me laugh everyday, and that is still the case to this day. Even on one of those days when everything seems to be falling apart, he's still able to find some way to make me laugh. I'm so happy I married my best friend. I couldn't ask for a more loving and supportive husband.

Nikki & Jake

Nikki and Jake had a glamourous wedding. The wedding was sophisticated and consists of summer romance mixed with Hollywood glamour. I enjoyed working with Nikki and her mom in designing this special day. The special day took place at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. I love working at this venue. Not only is it absolutely beautiful, the staff and the food is impeccable! This wedding was a success due to the most talented vendors! The breathtaking pictures are courtesy of Brant Bender Photography. The gorgeous flowers were designed by Haydee's Creative Flowers & Weddings. In fact, this wedding is being considered for a spread in San Diego Style Weddings magazine. (keep your fingers crossed!)

Blooms From the Heart

Brides & Grooms,

Today, I met with Mary Ryan Barthel, the founder & president of Blooms from the Heart.  Her organization is non-profit and they collect donations of flowers from events and weddings and delivers them to groups in need, such as hospitals, nursing homes, youth shelters etc.  After a wedding, usually the flowers go to wastes, so why not donate them to these charities?  Mary mentioned that they will work with you if you want them to go to a specific organizations and you can either donate the whole arrangements or just the florals.  You can also get a receipt for tax deductions as well =)

This is such a unique and easy way to give back to our community and be able to put a smile on someone's face.

Please let me know if you are interested!

Hugs,

Wynn

Marika & Jaime

Marika & Jaime
Darlington House
May 24, 2009

This wedding incorporated so many aspects that were important to the bride and groom.  Their love of nature inspired an eco-conscious wedding.  Everything from, the organic grown flowers, recycled vases, second hand wedding gown, and herb favors.  We also incorporated a Ukrainian ceremony to honor Marika's heritage which consists of passing of the bread and a vodka toast!
They were such a pleasure to work with and the love that they have for each other and for their family was so heartwarming.  It never gets old being around such loving people!

Stephanie from Next Exit Photography was such a pleasure to work with.  Please enjoy the photos that she was kind enough to share.

What Differentiates a Wedding Consultant from your other "Coordinators"

Dear Brides:

Many of you may wonder, what is the difference between all these "coordinators"  Also, if you have a reception or church "coordinator" then why should you need a wedding coordinator or consultant?  Please read my article so that you can get a better understanding of the different vendors and their duties on your wedding day.  In addition, having a better understanding of the way people get paid is important in your decision making.  In many instances all the "coordinators" serve their purpose and work together in collaboration but not in lieu of.

*"Free" Wedding Coordination Services:
Some brides have told me that they get a free wedding coordinator with their "package"  I've learned that there is no such thing as a "free lunch"  These coordinators typically are provided through an incentive payment.  Which means, they get a percentage of the package that you purchase from the vendors that they refer you to.  The vendors will typically raise their prices to cover the amount for the referral fee.  So in the end, your "free" service may end up costing you more money than hiring an independent consultant.  Also, many reputable vendors will not participate in this, so you may be missing out on a lot of great vendors that fits your style and budget.

*Ceremony Site Coordination:

Usually a church, synagogue, or wedding site will hire a ceremony site coordinator in order to enforce the rules for their site.  These coordinators are great to work in conjunction with a wedding consultant to make sure that everything flows smoothly.  Otherwise, these coordinators are not concerned with anything that occurs before you walk down the aisle, nor after the ceremony.

* Reception Site Coordinator:

This is the salesperson who works in the catering or sales office at the venue.  They are not trained wedding consultants.  They ensure things that you ordered through them are in place and that the set up and the service during the reception runs smoothly.  The referrals they provide are typically a list of companies that have done weddings there but their references are not checked.  These coordinators is a critical role for working in conjunction with your wedding consultant, but they do not spend time creating a detailed time line for you nor do they look out for your budget or give you any advice on proper etiquette.

*Catering

Reputable caterers are wonderful to work with as far as the service they provide your guests, and the timing of when the food is served.  They typically follow the time line that a wedding consultant has prepared as when to serve dinner, alcohol, and cake.  They do not handle the details of your wedding or the decor.

*Wedding Consultant

A professional wedding consultant has your best interest at heart.  Their main goal is to walk you through every step of the wedding process.  They are a true investment in your wedding because not only will they help you negotiate the contracts and prices with the vendors, they keep you on track, and organized.  They work with your budget to help you create a design to your wedding but at the same time provide you with realistic expectations.  They work with your vendors and refer reputable vendors that fit your style and budget.  They are your trusted advisor when it comes to the business side of wedding planning, but they will become your right hand during times when everything seems overwhelming.  Just be sure you hire a consultant that you "click" with and are honest about their fees.  Some consultants may collect referral fees from vendors, which brings us back to the issue that you may face for a "free" wedding coordinator.

Jennifer and Michael

Jennifer & Michael was such a fun couple to work with.  Everytime, I meet with them, I can guarantee a couple hours of us laughing our heads off.  With rain on the horizon that week, we were so lucky that it turned out to be a beautiful day for their beautiful wedding.  The beautiful flowers were by Alan James Welder.  I absolutely loved the centerpieces, it encompasses so much creativity and details.

By the way Jennifer works at the Lomas Sante Fe Country Club, which is a wonderful venue in San Diego.  If you are still searching for a venue, be sure to check it out.

Testimonial from Jennifer:

Her name says it all! With Wynn, you seriously get the wedding of your dreams! Everything went so smoothly, on cue, on time. Guests would not stop commenting on how beautifully the wedding flowed from beginning to end! As a event sales & coordinator myself, I could not have asked for a better executed day =) Without Wynn's help, I know for a fact it my wedding would have not been as perfect as it was (no joke). She caught all the details that I missed, and even brought up points that I would have never expected! I highly recommend every bride to hire a wedding coordinator, no matter how organized she is! And it would be your best investment if you booked Wynn!

"Nails in the Wall"

Today, I got my pedicure at my most favorite pedi place in San Diego.  However, just like your favorite "hole in the wall" eatery, this is my favorite "Nails in the wall" nail salon.  It's not the prettiest place by all means, but they have the best spa pedicures for $20!  Most places will ask you if you want a "Euro spa pedi" and then end up charging you at least $35 and up.  Fashion Nails give you the whole works, exfoliating, mint mask, and plenty of massaging for 20 bucks. Even though I live over by Carmel Valley, I still drive all the way to Pt. Loma so I can leave with my feet feeling all nice and minty for an hour without breaking the bank =)

Susanne & Danny were such a fun couple to work with!  They got married in beautiful Coronado, on a perfect sunny day.  To make their wedding special, they had a 6 piece Mariachi band for their ceremony music.

Congrats!

Wynn

Here is the testimonial from Susanne:

My husband and I got married on 5/1/09 and we couldn't be happier with how the event turned out. It was so beautiful! Wynn did a STELLAR job - from day one, through the end of our reception. She helped us find the perfect venue, referred us to a great Pastor, and her vendor referrals were excellent. All the while, she kept our budget in mind and kept us on track. Nothing would have gotten done without her! For anyone looking for a friendly, professional, considerate, detail-oriented, time-oriented wedding consultant who really listens to what you want, go with Wynn at Le Chic. (THANK YOU WYNN!!!)

Chic Soiree@ the Bridal Bazaar

The Bridal Bazaar was a success!  It is always so fun to work at and I love the chance to see all my favorite vendors!  This year, the Bridal Bazaar asked me to design a table for their event gallery.  I named my table Chic Soiree.  My colors were Silver, Pink, and Green.  I wanted to create a romantic table that has a modern vintage feel to it.  My inspiration is a Modern version of Marie Antoinette.  For our honeymoon, we went to Paris, and visited the palace in Versailles.  It was absolutely stunning.  It made me really regret not registering for China dinnerware!  Here are some pictures, I hope you enjoy!

Beatriz & Robert

Maderas Golf Resort

Bea & Robert were my Valentine's Day couple!  They were a pleasure to work with.  You can feel the love just radiate from them!  Beatriz incorporated her heritage with her spanish inspired wedding gown.  They also jump started the reception, with a surprise Flamingo dance! They sure got the crowd up on their feet and cheering!

These amazing photos were courtesy of Left Eye Shut Photography.  You can also check out the rest of their gallery on their website!

Thanks guys for doing such a wonderful job!

Testimonial from Beatriz (this is why I love my job!)

Wynn, of Le Chic Wedding Consulting, was superb! She did an exceptional job at organizing our tasks, our vendor contracts, our timeline, and our wedding! She pays close attention to detail, gently keeping us on track to the time schedule. She is a true professional, who maintains her friendliness and her approachability through those stressful moments. She really helped us define our priorities for the wedding day so that we would have a successful event. I was very impressed with how well she negotiated with our vendors. We had a situation in which one of our vendors was not completely holding up his end of the contract. It took persistence on behalf of Wynn and she was able to negotiate the terms so that we would not lose money and our vendor would play for the full length of time we wanted him. I definitely could not have pulled that off without Wynn! Also, the day of the wedding, Wynn was extremely professional (appropriate attire as well) and was an exceptional helping hand! Any and every task that I (the bride) asked Wynn to help me with was done and was done correctly!! My family and guests really enjoyed the wedding and we KNOW that are wedding would not have been such a smooth, successful day if Wynn had not been there to help us with it! It was amazing how much we enjoyed our wedding day and how well everything went... trust me... Wynn's timeline and organization made the difference in the world so that my husband and I did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy our day! I highly, highly recommend Wynn of Le Chic Wedding Consulting as anyone's wedding coordinator! She will not let you down and is the best value for your money! Trust me... she is the best wedding present you can get!!!

 xoxo,

Wynn

5 Fabulous Reception Ideas

Style is so important when it comes to a wedding.  After all the hard work and money that you've spent, of course you want to have a memorable wedding that everyone raves about!  Here are some ways to make sure you have a fabulous event!

1.  Get the guests involved:
An easy way to do this is to rent a photobooth!  Guests love taking fun pictures. Also, you can have them put place the pictures in your guestbook.  Today, they have a variety for you to choose from: color, black & white, vintage...and of course my favorite, the photoboof! This is when you have props for your guests to take silly pictures! (okay, I know it's not for everyone!)

2.  Plan a creative snack:

You don't have to have a valentine's day wedding to have a candy bar!  Having a candy bar at a wedding is part of the latest trend.  You can have personalized candies, or theme candies, such as candies from the 80's etc.  If you are from an ethnic background, you can also have a nice presentation of small desserts with the candies to give it that personal touch!

3.  Pick a Theme:

Themed weddings are a blast!  You can pick a theme, from some of your favorite activities, era, or ethnic background.  Since we live in such a diverse city, couples from different backgrounds like to have a "fusion" wedding to incorporate the bride and groom's background.

4.  Give it some Color:

Metallic colors are in!  Today's trend is to shy away from the traditional color scheme.  Today's color schemes consists of at least 3 different colors, with one of them being a metallic hue! Soft shimmery colors are soo romantic!

5.  Have a signature drink!

In addition, to your normal wine and beer, having a signature drink will have guests impressed!   You can either create your own drinks and have servers walk around with the glasses on a tray, or you can create a "bubble lounge" Have Champagne or sparkling wine set up with different juices and fruits for guests to create their own drinks! Yummy! Now that' s  a TOAST!
